Hospital Adds New Board Members

11/05/2007

Springs Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the following three new members to its Board of Directors:

Mrs. Pam Mulvaney joined the board in February of this year. Mulvaney is married to SC House of Representatives Member, Mick Mulvaney. She is the mother of 7 year old triplets. The Mulvaneys have lived in the Indian Land community for over seven years. Mulvaney is a former member of the Board of Directors of Community Health Services in Charlotte, NC.

“As a former sales and marketing executive, I keep an eye on positioning and the reputation of the hospital in the community,” said Mulvaney. I think it is important that Lancaster county residents know the quality of the facility in light of the fierce competition presented by Rock Hill and Charlotte hospitals.

Deepak Shah, MD who is a cardiologist at Carolina Heart Specialists (formerly Carolina Cardiolgoy) joined the board in September. Dr. Shah has been a member of the medical staff at Springs Memorial Hospital since 1996. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Shah is also a member of the board of directors of The Diabetes Education Clinic, a member of Lancaster Rotary, a member of the advisory board of a major insurance company and the medical director of the catherization lab and ICU at Springs Memorial Hospital. He and his wife Bina have two sons.

“Lancaster and surrounding communities are very fortunate to have a hospital such as Springs Memorial, said Shah. “I have lived in Lancaster for the past nine years and I am very much in tune with the medical needs of this community. As a member of the board, I will work hard to take Springs Memorial to the next level. I practice in this community because this is where I truly want to be.”

Al Polston is a Certified Public Accountant in private practice (Faulkenberry and Polston, CPA) in Kershaw where he has been a resident for over 12 years. Polston also serves on the board of Wachovia Bank and the Kershaw Area Resource Exchange (KARE). He and his wife Ramona have three children and one grandchild.

“I am pleased to be a part of this board due to my concern about the availability, affordability and quality of healthcare services for the people in and around Kershaw,” said Polston.
