Springs Physical Therapy Open To All
Hospital opens second physical therapy office in Indian Land
By Reece Murphy of The Lancaster News
INDIAN LAND (January 6, 2011) – Springs Memorial Hospital has opened a second physical therapy office in Indian Land. Springs Physical Therapy opened Monday Jan. 3, in Suite 500 of the Shoppes at 521 shopping center, 9789 Charlotte Highway. The location is an extension of a physical therapy office operated by the hospital in Sun City Carolina Lakes, which has been in business for more than three years, but only open to residents of that development.
Therapist LeeAnn Gaston said the hospital opened the new location after realizing the need in the Indian Land area. She said the location is another way the hospital can provide better services for the community. “Springs Hospital is the main care provider in the county, so we wanted to make sure everyone had access,” Gaston said. “We want to be closer to their homes.”
Gaston said the new location will not affect service at the Carolina Lakes office, which will continue to operate on its regular schedule. The new location will provide a range of services from orthopedic, post-surgical and sports rehabilitation to specialty programs focusing on balance and back programs. “We’ll also be working closely with our home care company, Lancaster Homecare, to make sure that continuum of care is there,” Gaston said.
Springs Memorial Hospital has had a physical therapy presence in Lancaster County for more than 26 years, Gaston said. She said Physical Therapy Director Bart Oliver, who oversees the hospital’s physical therapy program countywide, and other therapists involved with the effort bring a wealth of experience to patients in Indian Land. Gaston said that experience and the hospital’s commitment to the community makes Springs Physical Therapy unique among physical therapy offices in the area. “Many of the clinics just do generic orthopedics and don’t have people knowledgeable in all the areas we offer,” Gaston said. “We want to be there and give the community the best quality care they can get.”
Springs Physical Therapy is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For details, or to make appointments, call (803) 286-1576 and (803) 396-0251.
